I am a suri alpaca rancher in California. I found you on Who’s Who, as I am a recent member.
I’m looking to move/sell a portion of my fiber. My herd is currently 67 head of nearly every color (24 natural colors for show purposes). I would assume that white is the most versitile for your purpose of dyeing and blending. I do have a Ca based mill that will produce rovings and yarns, as well as a freind in PA that is setting up a mill and felting facility. She is downsizing her own herd and focusing more on fiber production.
I incidentally own and show sheetland sheepdogs and almost went with shetland sheep prior to selecting alpacas. Would also be willing to trade yarns/fiber/rovings and anything else. I love to knit when I’ve time but I can’t use my own fiber fast enough and I’m not prepared to retail my own fiber at this time.
Hi Laurel,
Thanks for the inquiry. Looks like you have quite an operation. I love to spin alpaca-and do blends for my own use. I am always looking for ideas for future Scarlet Fleece products. I am currently looking to create a shetland yarn product-at the moment-as well as continue offering the products I currently do. Since I am a small operation-that is all I can focus on for the time being. But that is not to say I might be interested in the future. It is a challenge to stay relevant and competitive in this market. I have found that creating unique blends of yarn and roving can set a dyer apart from other dyers. So I thank you for sharing info about your farm. I will keep your info for a source pf alpaca. Thanks again-Kathy

I see that there aren’t any retailers of your products in Colorado. Are there online retailers where I could purchase your products? Thanks
